Voted Best Treatment of the Year for 5 Consecutive Years
Dermalux combines clinically proven wavelengths of light with the breakthrough proprietary LED technology to deliver safe and effective results for a wide range of skin concerns without discomfort or downtime.
Hailed as the perfect complexion boost, Dermalux instantly energises skin cells to revitalise a dull and tired complexion. A course of treatment offers long lasting results, stimulating the skin’s natural rejuvenation and repair processes to promote healthy looking skin, accelerate cell renewal and resolve a range of skin concerns.
LED Phototherapy is based on the principle that living cells are able to absorb and are influenced by light and the treatment has long been recognised for its regenerating and anti-inflammatory properties.
While we often associate light exposure with skin ageing and damage, light also has many positive influences on the body. It helps us produce vitamin D and provides energy and serotonin and can also accelerate our skin’s natural repair processes.
The differences between the positive and negative effects of light are the amount and the parts of the light spectrum we are exposed to. Ongoing exposure to UV is very damaging but controlled levels of Red, Blue and Near Infrared light are clinically proven to be beneficial.
The treatment involves exposing the skin to low levels of this beneficial light energy from the visible and infrared part of the light spectrum which energise cellular functions to stimulate various cellular processes with therapeutic effects. Skin cells that are energised function better and regenerate faster which in turn leads to younger, healthy and radiant skin.
The first law of Photobiology states ‘photons must be absorbed by the target chromophore to activate a cellular response’
Each individual wavelength has a specific target chromophore within the skin (such as melanin, oxyhaemoglobin, water and porphyrins etc.). Shorter wavelengths have more superficial targets and longer wavelengths penetrate to targets at deeper levels in the skin. If the wavelength does not match the target chromophore then there will be no absorption and no reaction and therefore no result. Furthermore, if the photon intensity is too low and insufficient energy is applied to reach the target cells, again there will be no result as the minimum threshold has not been met.
NOT ALL LED PHOTOTHERAPY SYSTEMS ARE SCIENTIFICALLY EQUAL:
A perfect example of how Dermalux utilises the exact wavelength at its most clinically potent is with its Blue light at 415nm: Blue light 415nm is 10 times more effective (10 times more absorbed) than at 450nm to 470nm, which is routinely used by many other LED devices.
Great skin doesn’t happen by chance. Discover the benefits of Dermalux and find out how this award-winning treatment can transform your skin.
Dermalux treatments are perfect for all skin types and are clinically proven to help resolve the following concerns:
*Dermalux is the ONLY medically certified LED device in the world, approved for the successful treatment of eczema and psoriasis*
How Does Dermalux Work?
Our skin has the ability to absorb light energy and use it to stimulate or regulate essential cell processes.
LED Phototherapy is the application of beneficial wavelengths from the visible and infrared part of the light spectrum which have proven skin enhancing benefits.
Skin cells that are energised function better and can renew up to 200% faster accelerating regeneration and repair.
Dermalux uses three clinically proven wavelengths, delivered at precisely the right output power or photon intensity:
Blemish fighting blue light destroys the bacteria, Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes), which causes spots and helps in the prevention of breakouts.
Exposure to Blue light at 415nm interacts with the C. acnes creating a photodynamic reaction which results in bacterial destruction. It also helps to balance sebum production and improve skin clarity. Applied in combination with Red and Near Infrared light, the Dermalux® Tri-Wave treatment offers enhanced anti-blemish results and is excellent as a post treatment procedure to help minimise breakouts and reduce redness.
* Blemish fighting action without irritation
* Helps spot prone skin
* Balances oil production
* Improves skin clarity
Rejuvenating Red light accelerates cell renewal and repair, boosting collagen and elastin synthesis for smoother firmer skin.
Exposure to Red light at 633nm is clinically proven to increase the body’s natural form of cellular energy (ATP), which in turn “kick starts” cells to regenerate faster. Red light is potently absorbed by fibroblasts increasing collagen and elastin synthesis and boosting natural hydration levels. It also improves blood flow for increased tissue oxygenation and the lymphatic systems to eliminate toxins.
Red light offers immediate visible results; skin feels hydrated and plump and radiance is restored.
* Increases collagen and elastin synthesis
* Reduces fine lines
* Improves complexion, texture and tone
* Increases natural hydration
* Stimulates circulation and lymphatic system
* Revitalises and restores radiance
Repairing Near Infrared light is the most deeply absorbed wavelength and works synergistically with Red light for optimum rejuvenation results.
Exposure to Near Infrared light at 830nm triggers the skin’s anti-inflammatory processes to accelerate repair and reduce irritation and redness. Near Infrared light builds strength and integrity for compromised, environmentally damaged and sensitive skin conditions. It is also clinically effective in the treatment of age spots and hyperpigmentation.
* Advanced skin rejuvenation benefits
* Relieves redness and irritation
* Reduces pigmentation
* Promotes healthy skin
* Ideal for the most sensitive skins

Am I Suitable For Dermalux?
The Dermalux® LED Phototherapy treatment is safe and well tolerated, however there are certain circumstances and medical conditions in which treatment may prove to be unsuitable.
Prior to your Dermalux treatment, you will undergo an advanced and comprehensive consultation, where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability. You will be carefully examined, and any skin irregularities, lesions, scars or comments will be documented. Before proceeding, you will be asked to sign a consent form.
There are a small number of health issues that may mean you are contraindicated for Dermalux, in either the short term or long term:
- Epilepsy or Seizures Triggered by Light
- Metabolic Disorders such as Porphyria
- Autoimmune Disorders such as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)
- *Photosensitive Disorders such as Photosensitive Eczema
- Active Cancers
- Use of Photosensitive Medications
- Pregnancy and/or Breastfeeding
- Eye Disease and Conditions including Glaucoma, Cataracts, or Recent Laser Eye Surgery
- Light Induced Migraines
Certain medical conditions, medications and chemicals are known to induce photosensitivity.
Photosensitivity is a common side effect of various medications. These can include certain antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs, diuretics, St John’s Wort, anti-perspirant, antibacterial soaps, artificial sweeteners, naphthalene (also known as mothballs), petroleum products, a number of brightening agents found in laundry detergents, and cadmium sulphide (a chemical injected into the skin during tattooing).
Photosensitivity may also be caused by the use of certain perfumes applied in the treatment area.
Photosensitivity is, broadly speaking, a condition characterised by increased sensitivity to light, particularly UV light. It refers to the development of a skin reaction as a result of the combined effects of light and certain medications (oral and topical), hormonal changes, trauma or chemical causes. General symptoms present as an erythema reaction similar to sunburn.
Exposure to either a chemical or the light alone is not sufficient to induce a photosensitive reaction. When photo-activation of a chemical occurs, a phototoxic or photoallergic reaction may arise.

What Does Dermalux Entail?
Prior to treatment, you must first undergo an advanced consultation, where details about your medical history are obtained in order to confirm suitability. Before proceeding, you will be asked to sign a consent form.
A selection of anonymised photographs will be taken prior to the treatment, to accurately gauge your progress; baseline photographs are highly recommended to allow comparisons with past treatment results.
Once you have been assessed, your clinician will select the most appropriate Dermalux protocols to maximise efficacy in resolving your concerns.
1) You will be asked to arrive without make-up, and nothing on your skin. If you are wearing cosmetics, your face will be cleansed and dried, so that the selected wavelengths can penetrate the skin, free from any barrier.
2) You will be invited to lie down and make yourself comfortable, a pair of goggles will be supplied, and the clinical protocol decided upon will be selected by your clinician. The Dermalux device will then be placed above the area to be treated.
3) The next 30 minutes are all about YOU. Relax under the Dermalux LEDs and let your skin absorb the energising light, which will “kick start” cell regeneration, calm irritation or restore radiance.
4) There is no downtime with Dermalux, you can simply get up and let your skin glow.
How Does The Treatment Feel?
Dermalux is a relaxing, calming experience with proven mood enhancing benefits.

Pre Treatment Checklist
LED Phototherapy is a clinically proven and safe treatment without discomfort or downtime, however for optimum results, we recommend that you read and follow the Dermalux® Pre treatment advice outlined below:
1) In preparation for your LED Phototherapy treatment, all make up and skincare products including sunscreen should be removed to allow absorption of beneficial light into the skin. For optimum results, exfoliation prior to treatment helps to remove dead skin cells which may reflect the light.
2) It is not necessary to remove contact lenses during your LED treatment.
3) Protective eyewear:
Visible Red and Near Infrared are eye safe and will not cause any damage to the eye, even with deliberate exposure. However, as the light is very bright, we recommend the use of the protective eye goggles provided, for your comfort.
With Blue light or any treatment combination including the Blue light, we strongly recommend that the client goggles are worn for the duration of the treatment.
4) We reserve the right to charge for any appointment booked but abandoned due to either the noted contraindicated health issues being present, or the continued use of medicines discussed herein.
5) A medical history is taken at the consultation, but we rely on you to inform us of any changes to this. We need to know of any medication you are taking including those bought from a chemist or herbalist.
6) Make sure that you arrive in good time for your appointment; this will allow us plenty of time to ensure your treatment can be performed promptly and without haste.
Post Treatment Checklist
LED Phototherapy is a clinically proven and safe treatment without discomfort or downtime however for optimum results, we recommend that you read and follow the Dermalux® post treatment advice outlined below:
1) Following your LED Phototherapy treatment, apply the recommended skincare products which should include an SPF protection (day time only).
Your clinician will give you guidance on the suitability of your current skincare products during your consultation. However, if LED Phototherapy has been used in conjunction with other aesthetic procedures, specific aftercare advice should be followed.
2) Make-up may be applied immediately following LED Phototherapy. However, we recommend the use of mineral based or non-comedogenic formulations that allow the skin to breathe.
3) Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration levels and aid the lymphatic system to eliminate toxins.
4) In the unlikely event that any adverse reaction occurs following your treatment, please contact Clinic No 2 for further advice.
*For your peace of mind and well-being, at the end of your treatment you will be given an out-of-hours telephone number; your clinician will be on call 24 hours a day to answer any questions you may have*
